Please leave a message at the beep.

Beep.

Not much blogging can be going on these days.
The only thing I really have time for is working, sleeping, eating, and packing. We are almost done. I swear. We are moving for real on Saturday. I have a half day of work on Monday and I am cleaning the apartment and turning in the keys.Back to the regularly scheduled blogging soon!

Sock Summit High

Last night, I returned from Portland and the wonderful land that was Sock Summit.

There was way to much going on to talk about it in only one post, so here is the overview. There was a lot of sock knitting:
And there was class taking (um, hello! That is Meg freakin' Swansen!):And stalking of some of my favorite knitting celebrities:There was meeting of some of my favorite bloggers (here's Deb from Knitting Pharm):And my favorite favorite sock designers:There was some beer drinking:And meeting the Ravelry folks:And there was more sock knitting:I had such a wonderful time and it was so fun to meet a bunch of people I had only ever known online. I took some wonderful classes, bought some amazing sock yarn, and just had a blast.

I will be posting more about the trip throughout the week. Happy knitting!

Sock You Like A Hurricane

Why I like to take random songs with the word 'rock' in them and change rock to 'sock' and then use it as a blog title, is beyond me. Guess I have socks on the brain, these days!

Well, in about 14-ish hours, my friend Jenni and I will be boarding a plane and be off to Sock Summit. I finally have everything packed and ready to go. My crazy SS binder with every flippin' detail of the next six days is in order. The socks that are coming with me have been decided on and put in an appropriate project bag.

(Side Note: My Outlook calendar reminder just popped up reminding me to go to Sock Summit tomorrow. Love it!)

I can't wait to see all the sock knitters. There are a few people whose blogs I read that I really hope I get to meet. Of course, I will probably chicken out, and just stalk from afar, but it's cool. It will be fun anyway.

I also can't believe that I will be buying sock yarn on Thursday. I haven't bought sock yarn since sometime in December of last year. I love sock yarn. It's probably my favorite thing to buy in the whole world. Oh, how I plan to blow one-third of my SS money on Blue Moon yarn!

Anyway, that's all for now. I probably won't be blogging while in Portland, but plan to do so next week when I get back. I have a plan in my head for making a Sock Summit scrapbook when this is all over, so I plan on taking a crap ton of pictures.

Happy knitting (and safe travels to all the Sock Summiteers!)

Charade

When we played our charade
We were like children posing
Playing at games, acting out names
Guessing the parts we played
Oh what a hit we made
We came on next to closing
Best on the bill, lovers until
Love left the masquerade
Fate seemed to pull the strings
I turned and you were gone
While from the darkened wings
The music box played on
Sad little serenade
Song of my heart's composing
I hear it still, I always will
Best on the bill
Charade

I think all sock patterns should be named after Cary Grant movies. Just sayin'.

The Specs:

The Pattern: Charade by Sandra Park (Rav link there)
The Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock Multi Mill End
The Needles: US Size 2 (2.75mm)
The Time to Knit: 3 weeks
The Modifications: I kept the herringbone pattern going down onto the heel flap. Other than that, I just knit the socks like I almost always do: cuff down, heel flap, gusset, etc, etc.

These socks will be perfect for Sock Summitting. Now, excuse me while I head to Target for a couple of items for my trip to Portland on Wednesday morning.

Happy knitting!
